Get over it and get on with it - ebay changes
So I took a week off and barely looked at my computer - and wouldn’t ya know it - I missed ANOTHER ebay announcement about pending changes. Thank goodness there are great communities of people who immediately start discussing how to deal with the changes. There is the initial “WHAT!?!?!”, “not again”, “that’s it I’m done with ebay” comments and then things settle down and people start to find the silver lining in the clouds.
This change actually seems quite good for sellers AND buyers.
You can find an outline of the latest changes HERE.
Whenever ebay makes a change - which seems like it has been every week lately - we need to allow ourselves a few minutes to “wig out”. Once we’ve done that, then we can start to look at the benefits of the changes and try and turn some of the challenges into opportunities.
As a seller, you will have some decreased fees - especially if you are using BIN. And yes, the FVF is going up to 15% (right now it is at 8.75% for items under $25). However….good sellers are being rewarded with more decreased fees and more visibility of their auctions.
Use ebay for all that it is worth - build a mailing list of customers who will buy from you again and again. Take those customers with you to other venues for selling (ie. your own web site).
Think outside the box! ebay is much more than just a place to sell/buy stuff. The BEST place I have found to learn how to get the most out of ebay, survive the changes and find other profitable areas is a group put together by Jim Cockrum. There are message boards full of knowledgable and helpful people. They discuss ebay, internet marketing, multiple streams of income…etc. PLUS…he has this “bonus pool” area with VERY useful ebooks on many different topics - selling public domain material, selling books on ebay, using ebay for lead generation…etc. I have learned SOOO much there that I can’t even begin to list it all! Check it out.
